Mars from murrumbateman, Nov 13

Got home from Snake valley and found my Astronomik IR-pass filters waiting for me (thanks to Mike at Bintel for chasing these up!).

Last night I tried the "ProPlanet 742" which passes the near infrared, I combined it 70/30 Red/IR to get luminance.

The seeing started out superb at around 9pm when I was setting up, sadly there are no planets to see at that time with any detail :-( By 4am the seeing was not so good but with the help of the IR filter the result was ok.

Red @ 40fps for 90s
Grn @ 40fps for 60s
Blu @ 40fps for 60s
IR @ 30fps for 40s

Combined 70/30 Red/IR for luminance

Can you do one with and without the IR filter? Does it make a huge difference? My guess it does.

It does make a difference, especially with it at such a low altitude the dark surface markings are much more defined in IR. I'll see if I an show it later.
