Hi all
Last night I had a go at getting the sharpest pic I could of the crescent moon, taking multiple images then using Registax multi point alingment, then wavelets to finish it off.

5 x ISO100 images with 10 inch f5.6 scope.
The fact I live in a coastal city means when the seabreezes are on, the temperature doesnt fall very fast on dark, so if I set up as soon as the sun sets, or even a bit before, the full thickness Sutching pyrex mirror has a chance to equalize closer to the ambient temp. The back of the tube is open, a 2 inch gap allowing air to circulate, hopefully removing most of the scope seeing effects. Mirror lockup function of modded 350D helps too. Processed as monochrome image.

That's a brilliant shot, one for the pool room. Very sharp all over. Great job.

Very Very Nice,

The Moon has held a fascination for me since I was a "young bloke".
I still find myself searching for the slightest sliver at the New Moon.
This is a lovely image.....well done.

Thanks.
I use a 10 inch f5.6 Newtonian, made by Astro Optical Supplies back in 1986, on a "Sampson" GEM mount also made by AOS. Those were the days where cutting edge gear (at the time) was made here in Australia. Here is the beast in all its glory
