Well, in reasonable seeing, once Orion had climbed up a bit, I managed to see A,B,C,D,E and F very clearly, and was optimistically looking for the rest. It was a wonderful night. I saw first light on Eta Carina with my new 16" Lightbridge - wonderful. With the nebula filter on, the bright red star at one end of the Eta Carina nebula turned an angry red - quite striking - sort of like Sauron's eye. :)
Two of my favourite targets that I love going back to and observing again and again. Eta Carina particularly in a 16" is something I always enjoy looking at (I just have to do it in other peoples scopes :P )

I used the Sauron analogy a couple of weeks ago when writing up an observation of Hind's star in Lepus. Just this drop of deep orange/red sitting in space.
Eta Carina is fantastic in larger scopes - the Homunculus is amazing.

It must have been the night for it. I saw F for the first time last night at the Central Coast get together through Jakob's 16" Lightbridge. Great stuff.
Cheers,
Jason.
