View Full Version here: : mars from snake valley
Again from Saturday night in pretty good seeing. Mars reached a maximum altitude of about 28 degrees around the time this image was taken.
Scope: http://www.acquerra.com.au/astro/lexx.html
capture: RGB @ 40fps, 2 minutes for red, 1 minute for G and B
Not too bad for the conditions, maybe some volcanoes visible and also some areas of cloud (blue).
cheers, Bird
Fantastic image Anthony, you've captured some wonderful details.
A fine effort

Goodness, Anthony makes it look easy. I was looking over his shoulder as these frames were captured. A few clicks and few button presses on a controller and there it is! But what I didn't see was all the previous work to design, build and trial his system. I did notice the careful preparation for an evening's imaging, since Anthony was set up beside me.
He said it was a less interesting face of Mars, but he could already see, in the frames as they were being captured, the features he has pointed out. I think I saw something - mostly a grey fuzzy ball with some distinction at the poles! :P Great to watch an experienced and capable imager in action.
