Hi
Thought Id try my hand at masking the moon to get sunlit parts and earthshine in one go. Image comprised of several short and long exposures masked in similar fashion as one would do M42.
Taken yesterday. 10 inch f5.6 scope

Very effective Scott! Would HDR processing work better than masking?

Thanks. I might give HDR a go with Photoshop.

Excellent work Scott. I particularly like the 3 detached peaks near the poles.
Cheers

Great Scott! Early Monday morning I was saying the same thing to Rob_K as we looked at our respective photos. I love seeing the earthshine on the Moon, but all shots have the lit crescent heavily overexposed, given the great difference in lighting. Here is the answer. Well done!

Lovely shot Scott. Not that easy to do and get it to look great.
We were looking at those peaks through the 20 x 80s last night Dennis. Amazing to see how bright they were. You wouldn't happen to know what peaks they were and how high?
