Even though the Jetstream maps weren't favourable, I still tormented myself and got out there to take some avi of Jupiter + GRS.

The jetstream is weird - the seeing looks ok in the eyepiece, but when imaging, the fine detail is just gone.. everything is blurred together. I shouldn't even bother imaging while it's there but it's more practise aligning and using the platform, so I persist.

Here's the best of my avi's from last night.. oh and another thing I noticed, Jupiter is getting smaller! Come back oh gas giant!

170 frames stacked in registax, wavelets processed in registax and then deconvoluted in astraimage.

Yep, I used to be like that too MIke, gotta shoot every night. Now I look, and if it looks real good I image, if it looks half good, I normaly just gawk. Seeing is a weird thing.
You can normally tell when the image is less than what was expected as well, the posting is smaller.
Lets be honest though, six months ago we would have all been stoked with your image, how things have changed. Do we blame Bird??

haha too true.. if i'm not happy with it, I don't feel like a big blurb :)

You know, good point.. it's quite amazing how, as a group, all of our images have improved in the last 6 months as a direct result of advice given and received here on IceInSpace.

Quite amazing really.
