Jupiter double transit - my first shadows

This image was taken Friday night, my first shadow transit event captured on film (so to speak). Seeing was shocking again, as it has been all week - the jet stream is overhead and it's playing havoc with my attempts at imaging on the platform :(

Anyway here it is:

Thats a great shot given the circumstances. Pity you couldn't have gotten the moons in the same shot. At least you got to use your mount!

The moons are there, somewhere, but I still haven't had a chance to play around with the settings enough to capture the moons without washing out the planet. On the laptop screen, it looks washed out if I have the moons - but sometimes after processing it's not that washed out at all.

More experiments are needed but I just haven't had the time or the conditions to test it more.

I still get a kick out of it. If only the weather would play ball.

Yeh i've drawn some marks on the ground now (in chalk) for where the feet of the platform sit, so it's much quicker and easier to get it aligned and start taking some avi's. I'm sure the rain will wash the chalk off soon, so i'll have to get a more permanent method, in different areas of the yard too because I can't image everything from the one spot :bashcomp:

The shadow transits are a great site to see, visually.

Now all you need mike is a robotic platform to move everything and setup somewhere designnated in the yard depending on the time of year and the object of desire!!! :rofl: :D

Hi Mike....That's a GOOD shot man! Just thinking about your platform, cant you leave it permanently set-up, & put like a cover of some description over it to keep the elements off it?
