Tarantula from Glebe

I am happy with the reducer but unhappy with the BAADER filter as it leaves a horrible green tinge. I will stick with the astronomic UHC. I have uploaded one of the original images, greeeeen + uneven illumination. I thought with the TV reducer i would get better illumination? All the field curvature is gone though.

Meade ED80, EQ6, TV 0.8 reducer
BAADER UV/IR + BAADER Contrast Booster filter, EOS400D
No guiding

2 by 60 sec ISO 400
2 by 60 sec ISO 800
3 by 120 sec ISO 800

Converted to TIF in canon photo professional
Blackframe removal
Stacked in DSS, RGB set to LogLog, luminance set to zero
Levels in CS2, Cropped

You probably need a few longer exposures in there, perhaps 4 - 8 minutes @ISO800, that should bring out much more detail.

From Glebe I in think 8 minutes he'd end up with a completely white image :)

Nice result! Do you ever get out to dark skies to do some imaging? You could join us up at Kulnura/Mangrove Mtn?

what a difference filters can make. pity about the baader.
nice tight stars on your pic too, so tracking is good, i reckon you have the capability to go further, just the light problem.
incandescent lighting is yellow, i cant remember if its the mercury vapour or the fluro tubes responsible for that green tinge, but yep youre up against it in that location. Anyway good to see youre pics

In this case a completely green image!

I have only been dark sky once, fortunately it was at oberon, unfortunately it was in the motel car park coz my 10 year old girl didnt want to leave the motel room :)

I would like to go to kulnura, when do you usually go?

Sounds like Glebe area is not an ideal place for imaging.

So you have done well with the first image.

Maybe some one else who has similar amount of light pollution can suggest a way of combating this problem and offer some help.

I live about 3km away in Haberfield. I think you've done an amazing job for Glebe.

My suggestion is to head west - better than filters

Yes, i would like to but just cant seem to find the time. At least in the park in Glebe i can setup after dinner and still be back by 1am for work the next day.
