Anyone who has dealt with me knows how impatient I am. If selling I send the item the day it sells, even though this means a trip into town. It doesn't seem right to stuff about once someone has paid.
Ditto with buying, if I buy I expect it to post that day or the very next.
I had occasion to want a focuser for an old newt project. Now this focuser can be sourced from Auckland, an hours drive away, or obviously from Australia.
It took three phone calls, and two e mails to make contact with the sellers in Auckland. I still haven't had a n e mail reply.
I wrote to Bintel, Sydney, after seeing it advertised on theire website page. In half an hour I had a reply, and the next e mail it was done. This was Monday the 29th. Don said he would post it that day (much to my disbelief).
Well true to form, it arrives today, Friday. What can I say? Service like that needs to be acknowledged. Fantastic.

That is entirely consistent with every experience I have ever had with Bintel. They value customers, and in my case, they always take time to ask how I am, catch up with news etc. And yes, when an order is placed, they act immediately.
Yes - they are very good. I usually receive things within 48hr of ordering from Bintel, sometimes within 24hr.

... no taking away anything from the guys at bintel, but my experience with people at the various stores has so far been positive. Astro-Optics, York, AEC, Steve at MyAstroShop all have offered useful advice and when they didn't know would suggest the next person to talk with. That's the nice thing about people being enthusiasts in an area, their genuine interest allows them to deliver a better quality of service compared with those working for a coles myer type conglomeration.

It is good to post these positive experiences... Don is a wonderful man as they all are there...er Mr Smith is a wonderful lady.. You all know about me buying my 12 inch there and Mrs Smith would not let me out the door when she heard I was trying to get it home by train...and drove me all the way home to Cheltenham.... that is decent and somewhat unique.
Great post it is so good to hear good news.

I have had nothing but exceptional service from Don etc at Bintel, Steve at Myastroshop, Andrews and Sirius Optics. They have all been curteous, prompt and a pleasure to deal with and I guess that we are lucky to have such good retailers that will go the extra yard.

I assume you are referring to Lily? Yes indeed, she answered the phone on Monday when I called to check on the likely arrival of the next Televue shipment (which (fingers crossed) has my new Ethos in it).:thumbsup:

I have to agree with the entire above WELL DONE .You ring them explain what you want, pay for it and if they have it in stock it will at your place next day .Keep up the good work FOLKS

yep, happy with service here in melb too
I am very very happy with the service from Bintel in Melbourne too.
The only problem is that Bintel Melbourne has to wait for Bintel Sydney to send parts to them :(
Very frustrating sometimes.

Exactly what I was going to say and sometimes Bintel Sydney does not send the correct part and you wait even longer.
Cant complain, all my experiences with Bintel have been positive, great service all the time.

Yep, always been happy with Bintel and Astro Optical Supplies. I have excellent service from both over the last 31 years.

I agree that Bintel service and supply timing is very good - as long as you do it over the phone or by the internet.
Do NOT go into their Sydney store in person. You will never make it out of there with any part of the day left if you do. Every time I've been in there I've had my tail talked off. Mike, Don and Mike all know how to CHAT. Thanks to Bintel I have missed many meetings and appointments. It's just too hard to avoid dropping in for a yarn if I'm in the area. The really bad thing is that I work just a 2 minute drive up the road..... :doh:

We are so lucky here in Australia to have such a dedicated group of Astro Shops. I know that this thread is dedicated to Bintel - but I have to say that I have never had a bad experience with any todate.
