How's it done ?

Hi Guys,

great pics you guys.

But can anyone tell me how to attach a (jpeg or otherwise) file that is as small as these ?? My pics are typically 3MB, whereas the thumbnails that get posted are sometimes just a few k's.

How do I get my pics small enough to upload? Can anyone please help?

Does your image viewing software allow you to resize and save files at different levels of compression?

If not, download irfanview - just google it. It's a good and straightforward piece of image viewing and handling software. Look under "Image" "Resize/resample" to set to about 800x600 pixels, then do "Save as..." and up will come a box allowing you to adjust the compression (change the %). Then see what size the resulting file is. You are looking for a jpeg under 200k to attach here.

Eric is right! Also, check out VSO Image Resizer from www.vso-software.fr, it's free and just great for resizing images.

Just right-click on the files and choose "resize" from there.

Thanks guys, - I have just looked at the software that came with my 400D and that has resizing facility. So between that and the packages you've suggested, I'll have a fresh go this evening.
