My wallet shakes just thinking about the things that could go wrong.
I still worry about getting finger prints on my 40D let alone screwdriver scratches!

Agreed Geoff - looks like we both need another 40D to experiment on!:P

When I did my 10D, which was a similar procedure, the hardest part was in attaching the new hot mirror. I kept getting the RTV I was using on the filter, and having to clean it off. Had I used a better adhesive, the whole process would have been much easier.
I would be hesitant to use CA, as it offgasses and could coat the optical surfaces as it cures. There is a reason it can be used for fingerprint detection. Maybe the cyano glue mentioned isn't really cyanoacrylate, but it sounds suspiciously so.

Hah – in the sometimes bland and sterile world of political correctness, it is good to see that there are still good old fashioned macho men around who continue to push the envelope! Good on you! Go mod those cameras!
Cheers
Dennis
