This is getting like deja vu. Havent we had this comet hype before? Great isnt it!!
Any way down to business. Madness set in and I have just come inside from a session viewing Holmes 17P from 2.30-3.10am. First naked eye approx. 5 degrees above the trees due north, faint but easy! Like a smugy star.
Next 10X 50 binos, better, can now make out a larger smuge.
Time to try out the new 30X100 binos, WOW, can easily see the coma and nucleus and the view is large. Funny to see a round comet, not at all what I would expect. Is the tail going away from us perhaps?
Took some hand held pics and on to Mars. Beautiful. Looks like a small brilliant orange disk. Will have to get the scope out at the w/end if the weather holds. A quick look at the moon and inside for a cuppa. Happy now.
