I wasn't actually planning on capturing any images last night..... the moon was very full and bright, and about 30 degrees from M42, but I decided to give LRGB a try.
This is luminance only, not happy with the LRGB version! I am quite happy with the level of detail captured, I do need to work on my layer masking though....
Taken with ED80 (f/7.5) and DSI Pro II. It is a composite of 10x2s, 10x4s and 10x32s subs, darks and flats applied, and stacked in Nebulosity. All subsequent processing in PS CS2. Would have preferred it without the moon, but have to take clear nights when they come - they seem few and far between around here sometimes :(
Look forward to some criticism..... :D

You won't hear any from me.
I keep dreaming about building myself an ob like yours.

Great looking image Lee, you have captured quite a lot of detail.

A very nice image.

Looks very nice Lee! Data looks very smooth
Just some of the brighter stars seem to have a dark edge? maybe thats the masking you have mentioned..but other than that, lookin good!
cheers

I think some stars did get masked without me noticing (damn magic wand!).... the only masking I wanted to use was in the trapezium region, as it was obviously blown out....
Thanks for the comments guys..... :D
