Hi all
Thanks to Pail (photoncollector) for selling me his old Sampson mount (same as mine) I now have a 2nd mount to take places without disturbing the polar alingment of my permanently set up mount. Tonight I decided to take it along to the Newcastle Astro Societys viewing night at their Shortland site. It dismantles to fit in my mums small Nissan Micra, along with the mighty 300MM F2.8 flourite lens from Bert , my guidescope and other bits and pieces. The drive corrector runs off the car battery.

Surprisingly though the moon was near full being north of the meridian saw 1/2 hour of dark sky, so the first few shots were better then the last few, though I stacked the lot.

My first ever attempt at the veil neb as I cannot access that from the backyard.
Heres the image, 6x3 mins ISO400, UV/IR and UHCS filters, 300mmf2.8 flourite lens. Some moonlight and light pollution, and gradient to cope with in the north. Overall Im happy to record the Veil as good as this from a suburban location with a portable rig only quickly drift aligned.

Scott, you've captured the wispy filaments of the Veil very well considering the short exposure time. Well done.
