Hey guys,
I was reading a book on Sunny Corner silver mines a while ago now, and i came across something funny. I'll give you the short short version!
There was a miner living there called Paddy Lackey, he was 5ft 2in tall, he died in the 1880's in a pub during a drinking spree.
His fellow friends took him outside to be measured up for a coffin, they wrote the measurements on a piece of paper and sent a man called Dry Scott to the undertakers. The undertaker read the measurement at 7 foot 2 inches.
He was sent back to remeasure Paddy, and it was still the same 7 foot 2 inches. So the undertaker argued with the men that measured Paddy, eventually the undertaker gave in and made a box to fit Paddy.
When they placed Paddy in the coffin they used pillows to take up the left over space.
When they sobered up they wondered what went on with the measurement, they then found out the measuring tape had 2 foot missing off the end!
Apparently his grave is still in Kirkconnell and it measures 7 foot!

LOL
