tried my best on this but iit was from a very polluted site and no filters were used.
eos300d/8" newt/prime focus , a stack of 27 1 min exposures no guiding

Hi Col, that is a great looking image, nice clarity and colour.

I noticed there seems to bit some skyglow creeping in. Did you apply darks to this image?

Looks good you could use flat frames to clean up those bust donuts. This one is on my hit list when the moon goes away.

:) thanks for the advice phil , whats the easiest way to do a light frame to get rid of the dusty parts?

I use what they call a light box made on the cheep but woks great. What you are looking for in a Flat frame is a shot of a white background with the same setting as your light frame. Exposure time is work out by measuring the ADU of the ex poser. Eg. My STL11000M has a ADU of 60000 counts. So for this camera i am looking for a exposure of about 30000 ADU. Its about 1 third of your camera tolal ADU. To measure the ADU of the exposure is easy in software like Maxlm DL you just put your mouse on the image and on the bottom of the screen is your ADU read out. Hope this helps there is a photo of my light box.

Col, for a light polluted sky as you mentioned, I reckon it is a ripper of an image.:thumbsup:

I have always like this cluster, but alas, i cant get to it with my set-up, I'm blocked by some trees and a shed. :sadeyes:

Same goes for M31, never mind i say, there is plenty of other objects around. ;)

looks beyond me phil , will a white cloth and a torch work the same over the aperture.
