Only managed to get 3x2min and 10x4min exposures so I summed the odd and even medians of the 4 min to give me 2x8 min. Used the 300mm lens and a Hutech LPS filter.

Managed to get a reasonable image. It will be much better with more data. This image does give a good idea how well this HDR method works. Have a look zoomed in at all the faint stars etc.

lovely detail, bert.
I notice a purple cast to the right and bottom of the image - is that from selective processing, or something else?

Mike it is gradients caused by light pollution. This is much worse when the LMC is low as my southern sky is in the direction of Doncaster and the city of Melbourne. I will get much better data when the LMC is closer to the zenith.

I am going to try narrow band when the weather clears.

Bert would gradient exterminator get rid of that?
