My previous effort wasnt so good, having got a modded camera i expected the Halpa to be bright red as so often seen. i got it red but lost all the other colours

Q. What do you expect Halpha pics such as m8 horsehead m17 etc to look like, as often in mags etc its a jet black sky with a screaming red nebula. is this what everyone expects. What is the actual colour of these things as with proceesing we are changing it (red, magenta, pink etc feel free to give exact colour via numbers if you know)

Wow that's a really nice image, I like it a lot. The h-a has really brought out the colours you didn't have before.

Lovely image there Alchemy! nice and sharp but has a slight greenish cast to it and you seem to have lost the blues a bit as well?
over all its a very nice image! :thumbsup:
I never expect brilliant red objects like the horsey etc with a modded camera but a more balanced result, like the low red (Ha) response of a unmodded camera to the overpowering red of a modded camera..one has to remember that the Canon internal filter for starters is a cyan color so by removing this your image is going to be shifted alot to the red.
Also the Bayer matrix becomes more transparent with the IR leaking through into the green and blue again not helping with color balance..
So one has to remember that modding is to lift the Ha response of the camera to bring it to the same levels as the rest of the spectrum...not necessarily to color red and to balance it with the Oxygen and Silicon emissions...well thats what I think anyways..
