I took this two weeks ago but only got around to processing it now.
When I look at it it's as though the Man is running scared from M42.

Again I was hampered by high cloud on the night and my polar alignment was only a quick one as I was running out of time.

This was taken with the TOA 130 with reducer on an EM200 mount and Canon 20Da (ISO800), various exposures inc Darks & Flats for a total exposure time of around 1 Hour.

Hope you enjoy.

Nice image, noiseless, sharp, good colors.

Does anybody see how the The Running Man nebula...actually looks like a running man?

Great picture with good detail!

The running man is sideways in the pic, and he is running towards the bottom of the pic. His head is on the left, with one arm behind and the other stretched forward. Same with the legs.

l really like that Andrew, just enough processing imo, most M42's are way over done.

Ingo, think KING KONG (Fay Ray) short neck, pivoting hips and sideways strides.

Beautiful image RB, IMO the best I have seen of that area of the sky. Can you upload the full size image somewhere??

Thanks everyone, I was very happy with it too.

I was suppose to wake up earlier that evening but I slept in so I was very rushed to get everything set up and to beat the moon and the sunrise.
So only managed these frames.

I also did my Darks during the cloudy periods during the night which worked out well and finished off doing my flats at pre-dawn.

Phil I'll upload a larger version soon.

Cheers

Gee thats lovely, not just in the taking but the processing to cover such a wide dynamic range and keep detail from brightest to faintest. Well done

The larger version really shows how clear and detailed the image is. Very nice subtle colours and not overdone.

Maybe we're all guilty of overdoing the processing sometimes it's nice to see some subtle touches to processing recently. Really like this one Andrew

Oh now I see the running man, very subtle, but it kinda looks like one. Sideways.

It really is a great picture, and gives VERY nice depth of field. It makes it seem as if the nebulosity is just floating their in a random area and behind it is open space.
