I think you will find this design has been out for over 12 months. Definitely innovative though.

I'm sure that a totally open conical primary would obviate the need for active cooling , even a fan for that matter.

yup Paulo has been doing some pretty nifti stuff for a while. not sure the $7790 is in euros or not or $US

hmmm, for high mag planetary, I would say no for any areas that can experience sudden temp changes (canberra and tasmania being two definate spots)

the mirror would still need to be encouraged to stay within that +/- .5 degree band for proper high mag imaging.

Birds is the most efficient of the lot and I am sure that his system would keep up with the most crazy of temp drops (or increase due to cloud cover), but generally, the less efficient systems will have to wait for the temp to stabilize and then cool to .5 degrees under ambient
