I am thinking of selling my Takahashi EXQ-1.6 extender (2"). I sold my Takahashi Sky-90 a while ago and thus I don't really have use for the extender anymore.

This is the 2" extender to be used with the FSQ-106ED or the Sky-90. I am not sure if it works with the previous FSQ-106, I think being 2" could be a problem. I used the extender only a hand full of times and thus it is still in as new conditions.

I got it directly from Japan and all at all I payed about $480 (I think here in Oz you pay about $500 at present with lower YEN).

So, make me an offer I can't refuse and it is yours! ;)

Stephen,

If you used this Extender-Q x1.6 on your Sky90, its will be the Tak part number: TKA00595. This Extender-Q (TKA00595) can also be used with the FSQ-106N.

The new FSQ-106ED uses a new Extender-QE - Tak part number: TKA36595. This not compatible with the original FSQ-106N.

This is easily verifiable through the Tak system charts.

Yes, the FSQ 106 Q-extender system chart specifically uses the older Q-extender, however using the 2" adapter #70 for the FSQ-106 photo-visual chart you are most likely able to use EXQ-extender on a FSQ-106 too. Of course someone would have to try. My guess is that Takahashi will refer to that solution once the older style Q-extender is sold out.

The EXQ-extender works fine on the Sky-90.

Anyway a sale is pending to someone with an FSQ-106ED.

Clear Skies

lol this is getting confusing

From what I can gather (using details from Optcorp)...

-The old (http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=105-172-173-2212) Extender is 1.25" native, using adapters to get up to 2"
-The new (http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=105-172-173-9393) Extender is 2" native.
-The two are not interchangable ie. the old extender cannot be used on new ED OTA etc

Is the barrel size enough to differentiate between the two?

I couldn't find any pics of the new extender, however here (http://www.whirlpoolgalaxy.com/equipment/fsq_cfw8a_st10_f5f8_adp_740.jpg) is a photo of the older extender on a 106N.

The new and the old Q-extender are distinctively different. The new one is more like your normal Barlow lens meaning it has a simple 2" in and 2" out. The old one has to be screwed in.

Nevertheless I think this discussion belongs into 'Equipment Discussion' forum and in the 'Buy and Sell' forum.
