I am curious to know if we have any Amatuer Radio operators here in IIS. I got my novice VK call in 1990 and thought it may make an intresting topic for ham ops as well as anyone else intrested in this hobby.

I do radio comms for a living, so don't want to do it at home too

When I was a kid I used to play around with radio, making small transmitters and receivers with valves and wiring with lethal voltages on wires soldered to nails on blocks of wood :) Kids dont try this at home

Good to see there is a couple on here, my call is VK2PSW. I sold off my gear a while back as it had to be done at the time. Will get back into it again one day as i still think it is a great hobby. Some of the gear i had:
Kenwood: TS120V, TS120S, TM3570 and a couple of desk mikes to suite.
Yaesu: FT101B, FT101E, FT101ZD, FM23R,
Antennas: 15mt Vertical, TH3 Triband Yagi, 80mt Diapole and other stuff i had going on paket radio, not forgetting all other little bits that all ops collect over the years.

VK4BKP here. Been licensed for the last 25 years. Haven't been active for a while though I do have a 2m rig near the desk. Too slack to turn it on though! Yes too many other hobby distractions have taken over.
