hi all,
I notice that a fair few IIS members have constructed there own observatories, and I thought it might be nice to have a section for DIY observatories on the 'projects & articles' page.
I'm soon moving to a 35 acre country property, and i have every intention of building a small observatory, so i've been trawling the Internet for idea's and inspiration. I was quite surprised when i realised that there isn't a section devoted to observatories on IIS, as so many regard them as an essential piece of equipment.

Great idea Jarrod, it just needs the content to get it going.
There's been a few threads here with people describing the step by step of constructing their observatories, we just need them turned into articles with pictures for the website.

ok then Mike,
so If all you observatory DIY'ers write up a few paragraphs about the design, construction, pro's/con's, etc of your DIY observatories (and include a few nice pictures), then we'd be most of the way there.

thanks guys for your help with my observatory dilemma. I've enjoyed looking through the links you guys have posted, and watching the you-tube clip. I've got a good idea of what I want, and I'd love to discuss my ideas, So I might start a thread in the DIY section to get opinions and suggestions regarding my current idea.
No bites from any one willing to write up an article about their own observatory?

Here ya go:
I had a left-over cubby-house from my Cubby business, so I made the roof roll off.
