Hi everyone,

This image is a closeup of the central part of the Lagoon nebula taken with my modded Canon 300D on the 12" f/5 reflector earlier this year. I like how this image shows a lot of structure particularly around the hourglass nebula (centre-right).

You can see a better resolution and imaging details here http://www.skylab.com.au/pmsa/Lagoon%20Nebula%20-%20page%206.html

As always just amazing.
How are you finding the G-11 in comparison to your older mount?

Wonderful image Paul, you have certainly captured an amazing amount of depth and clarity in that image.

Well done

Beautifully detailed image showing the full dynamic range of this neb. It sorely tempts me to build a 12" astrograph if this is the result one could get with long experience as you have Paul. I dont think my EQ6 could take it.

How difficult would it be to fit curved spiders to get rid of diffraction spikes? I ask this only because I have a personal dislike for them.

Ken the hourglass neb is what you see in small scopes. Starting off with a 12" dob makes you miss this.

Whats especially great about the image is not only the tremendous detail, but also the huge dynamic range captured, from the bright hourglass to the fainter outer parts. The dark blobs (Thackarays or Bok globules) really stand out too.
