View Full Version here: : first macro with new lens
got my new nikkor 55mm f3.5 micro (pre ai) with pk3 extension tube :D
so happy!
coming to grips with the adjustability is a bit hard, as you can tel by the blown wings but its fun all the same. NO MORE RUBBER BANDS FOR ME!
anyhow i am pretty happy with this shot. it was excrusiatingly hard to take as the wind was blowing the branch everywhere even tho i was holding the dan thing still... the eyes arent focused properly... gah! wind!
enjoy my pint size fly.
Thats a beauty Ving, so crisp and clear well done indeed, looks like some serious glass you have there.

Nicely done Ving. Should be a good lens. Try a slower f ratio to give you a better depth of field for focusing. It's not easy trying to focus both sides of a bug at once.

Nice work under the conditions. Ugly blighter though...yukh, even though they are probably important in the grand scheme of things.
Cheers

Awesome piece of photography, with gear like that you could spend the whole weekend in your backyard taking pictures.

Well at f11 you probably cant go much slower. Looks like you might need to get a 100 or 150 mm macro so you can get back a bit further then ;)

:lol: The fly - just for the record, in case historians, social commentators and psychological analysts look at these posts in 100 years time to gain an insight into the dynamics and behaviour of members on Forums of old!;)

I have tried aligning your fine image with the stars in Musca and Registar keeps failing. What should I do???
Jokes aside as you stop down to ridiculous numbers diffraction rears its ugly head and you lose resolution very quickly for depth of field. All photography is a balancing act and I think Ving got it close to correct.
I wont tell you how I get flies to stay put. Lets just say my dog has some input or is that output.
Nice pic Ving.

Great macros ving, you're enjoying your photography! Great stuff.
you bet i am mike :)
problem is cheryl is too and we are now "sharing" the camera. when i say "sharing" what i mean is last trip to mossvale we stopped at some falls and of the 178 raw images the memory holds i got to take 20... cheryl filled up teh rest :(
she has semi oked getting another camera tho, just a little more discussion on teh matter is required i think.... now should we get another black one of would silver look better? :)
