I purchased a GSO 8 X 50 right angled finder from Bintel it's ok except the cross hairs are not vertical/horizontal. They are off axis by about 15degrees.
Is this a problem? Maybe they are this way to allow the finderscope to be at an angle to the scope??
Should I take it back or am i being pedantic?
Any advice gratefully acknowledged.
Sounds strange to me. Why dont you ring them up and ask, if they think something is wrong they will give you another.

Yes, I'll ring them, but it was after hours before I noticed. It's an 80km round trip so I was testing to see if I being to pedantic.
It looks as if the cross hairs are around 15 degrees or so off vertical axis.
This isn't right....I'm really after conformation of this.

I have the same finder. Mine are off axis as well. Doesn't worry me though.

Same with mine - I noticed it in the store and we checked about 8 units - each wasn't level - which was surprising. But for astro alignment its not too much of a worry really - you are targeting the centre of cross hairs - so its only really the centre you need - the lines being off is just unusual but don't worry.
