Was outside at about 10:45 last night, and saw a meteor go from south to north from just past the zenith. It lasted about 2 seconds, and covered about 30 degrees of the sky. Bright orange, and left a blue grey "smoke" trail that dissipated almost instantly.
Not bad from suburban Melbourne. Anyone else see it? Nothing that's going to make the papers, but it was a nice fluke to see it, given that the cloud cover was very haphazard and it was on one of the gaps that had opened up for a while.
