Hi Guys.

Last night there was much discussion about my image of the Silver Coin Galaxy, and rightfully so if it had problems.

It appears that i was doing something wrong in the processing side of things, and that is quite possible as I'm still a novice at this.

Anyway to cut a long story short, i spent the entire night on the LMC, and found this image to be the best result, after many different ISO's and times.

10 images @ 2 Min's each, at 400 ISO, through Tak 106, and Canon 5D, Guided on G11, with Toucam 840K, Flat Fielded, and ICNR.

So now i would like your opinion, this image is aligned and combined in Image Plus, nothing has been done to it other than a slight brightness and contrast, it is not cropped.

The question is this, although i did it following the advice suggested last night, is it noisy...
Cheers Leon

Nice one Leon. I think you've brought out all the detail. I had a go in PS and there doesn't seem to be any hidden detail.
Hard to judge noise on a low res pic, but there doessn't seem to be anything worth worrying about.
It may have been better to off-centre the Tarantula, so that more of the cloud was visible.

I like it. The Tarantula is well centred and the off-centre LMC is contrasted nicely by the sparser areas at left. Nice. Looks sharp and not at all noisey at that size. I don't think noise would be a problem at 10xISO400 with ICNR if you haven't adjusted the levels much. If you want us to see the noise you'll have to stretch it more and give us a closer look.:)

I reckon you're ready for a deeper shot with that excellent kit that you've got, say one where you go for 60 mins total exposure, oh, and a closer crop on the nebula.:D Maybe frame the next one so that the LMC runs horizontal and you can get more stars in pic.:) Just suggestions. :hi:

Originally the Tarantula was called The Looped Nebula. A more appropriate name in my opinion.
I think you've done a great job Leon.

Well many thanks to you good people, it seems that i need to back off a bit with some of the processing, and leave more original data in the image.

Thanks Again, all your suggestions and comments greatly appreciated.

Leon

I cant fault it, and the sky background looks even, so the flatfielding is correct.
