Hello...
Nice fine crisp, clear night in the Adelaide Hills tonight (8.10.07)
47 Tucanae (NGC 104)
Canon 40D, ED80 Prime Focus, SynScan EQ5 mount
20 x 30 sec exposures @ iso640
Unsure if stacking does Globs any favours!?
Doug:thumbsup:

Hey Doug
Nice work. There is a lot more to this photo than initially meets the eye. Here is a quick and dirty re-process to illustrate what rich data is lying hidden in the bits and bytes.
Hope you like the difference!
Cheers

Looks good Doug! Nice and sharp!
Stack the lot then push it hard. Should bring up the fainter stars a bit better..
pretty good effort Doug, nice going, there certainly is a bit more in that image when you dig deeper. don't worry mate I'm having a hell of a time with this processing stuff, as well.

Thanks chaps!
I have tended to overprocess images in the past with the Pentax:whistle:
I tried to hang back with the Canon images. the Raw to Tif conversions are larger than the Pentax files(Pentax: 35Mb, Canon: 57Mb!!!) so ImagesPlus and PS have a tougher=longer time chucking them around.
Although, I have noticed that the images from the 40D require less processing after stacking which is a major plus - haven't been overdoing the PS actions on these images either...yet!
All the best
Doug:thumbsup:
Good stuff Doug.
Like Gary said, stack the lot and then re-process, you'll get more detail out.
The RAWs and Tiffs certainly bogg down the machine and fill the drive don't they.
Good work mate !!

Good start Doug.
As already said, throw the lot at the image, all your Lights, Flats, Darks and Bias, use the ImagesPlus, Automatic Image Set Processing function, then really give the sliders a work out in the Digital Development area, specially the lower slider, it will bring out all your detail.
All I ever do after that is a slight Levels and Curves in PS.
Cheers
Good effort Doug. Don't hold back on adding those additional light frames to improve the S/N. Look forward to seeing more.

nice and sharp.... the standard around here is getting pretty high these days:)
Great looking image Doug, the widefield really does 47 Tuc justice.
It looks great just hanging there amongst the stars.

Nice and crisp to my eye Dug.
I think stacking particularly on globs, and particularly with T47 helps prevent burn out.
As already pointed out there seems more in this image to draw out..however it is a very good image and you should be very proud of your effort.
I would love to be able to get my stars as small as those in your image.
Well done.
