I had a fun filled night a couple of nights ago.. reasonably clear and plenty of "shooting stars":D... well two crossed to form an "X" only for a moment ..but what are the chances of ever seeing such a thing.. it was real neat.
And thinking of my handle I felt it was just for me:lol::lol::lol:.

“What are the chances” – very slim. I have been taking images of meteors on and off for last two years. Got about 4gb of compressed AVI’s, each lasting on average 4 sec. Only on one I capture two meteors and not exactly in same time. As the first one fades the other one become visible. You should buy Lottery ticket Alex.

Find the spot that was right under that X Alex and start digging.

I have enough to do now without trying to fit trips to the lawyers, accountants and banker...as I have no doubt I would win.
I am incredibly lucky.
But it would have been nice to have captured a photo... even during a major shower I have never seen the like.

sounds like it had that X factor eh Alex! :D maybe it was the creation of a nexus to another dimension?
I had a good X, or more of a cross/plus sign during the xcellent '97 ETA's back when I was a real astro bum, i musta mentioned it 300 times by now i spose :D its kinda like war stories?
but its worth mentioning still, still one of my favourite meteors ever!
must of been a headon or near head-on that split into 4 pieces from a single point - and all geometrically heading to the four points for equa-lish distances, and all four left an eerie 5 minute or so lasting glowing purple trails, i seen some good triples for sure but this was definately the X factor!!

That is amazing Alex!

In my lifetime I've never seen 2 cross paths!!!
The only thing even more freakier would be to see 2 hit each other :eyepop:

I've seen Satellites cross each others path several times, but that isn't very exciting.

Never ever seen it Alex, you indeed were a lucky man, and Ken I had that thought of two hitting and getting a shot of the event, just the other night whilst imaging.

The more you are out there the luckier you get.
I have seen some amazing stuff but the best was a fire ball that went for at least 15 seconds over approx 30 degrees...slow as just kept going and going... it seemed like for ever.
