Hi Guys yesterday i posted an image of NGC 253 (Silver Coin Galaxy) the seeing wasn't that good that night so i had another go at i last night at 2.00 am at 0 degrees.

I'm not sure if it is any better, so you good people be the judge, and please comment either way.

6 images at 500 ISO @ 4 Min's each, guided with Toucam 840 K, Mounted on G11 through Tak 106, in camera darks, and flat fielded, Processed in Image Plus. The image is cropped to 999 x 1392 from a full res shot.

Cheers Leon

Is it Houghy, is that because the exposure was to long you reckon, it was only at 500 ISO, but we do have quite a bit of light pollution around here.

Any advice will be greatly accepted.

looks good Leon but like Houghy says, very noisey, was it like that after stacking? Maybe you have added or summed instead of average or meridian stacked ??
cheers Gary

I'm not sure if it's noise, or post-processing sharpening.. have a look at the stars in front of the galaxy - there's a black ring around them which is usually a sign of over-sharpening.

And as Gary said, did you ADD or AVG the frames?

Can you post the uncropped version?

Thanks Guys yep i think you are right, i tend to over sharpen the images a bit much at times, and im sure now, that i think about it more that is what has happened with this one.

I will start again with the raw data and see how it comes out with no sharpening at all, and post it later.

I must leave that button alone...

Looks like a combination of both oversharpening and Sum stacked.
What value Sharpening did you apply to this one Leon?

Try it again with an Average stack, no sharpening and post it again.

Yep, I will do that later Andrew and see if that makes for a better image, this processing business can be quite involved, but I think i'm slowly getting there, at least it is enjoyable learning all this stuff.

Thank You Eric, i reckon it is not to bad either, i think I'm striving to hard and not seeing the whole picture, and enjoying the moment of what i am capable of achieving, it is my best try so I'm happy with that.
