Hi All,
I travelled to the northern beaches to my brothers block of land where I could overlook bass strait. I was really keen to see if I could see M31 with no lights in the north to bother me.
And there it was!!!
My little binos that came free with the Andrews 10" dob were great for spotting it. I had trouble finding M33 though.
Being close to the ocean made a difference to the seeing, unfortunately the huge bon fire my brother kept feeding with logs did NOT!
The Milky way stretched from horizon to horizon and was gorgeous!
Would have been good to share with a few astro buddies, and then cook some steaks on the fire!
Astronomy is so fun, even with a pair of cheap binos and a dark sky!

Hi David,

Congratulations on bagging M31 from that far south! Sounds like a great nights observing.

Next time my wife and I visit Tassie we'll be there if you want to have another BBQ under the stars.

Cheers,
Greg
