View Full Version here: : Helix Neb and NGC 253 The Silver Coin
Hi Guys, last night was clear for once so i wasted no time in getting out there, even though it was minus 1 at 1am this morning. :face:
Seeing was pretty ordinary, with some light cloud floating around at times, but what the heck, have to take every opportunity, don't we.
Anyway, decided to have a go with two wide fields of, The Helix Nebula and NGC 253 (Silver Coin Galaxy).
Both images were taken through Tak 106 and with the Canon 5D, on G11, and Guided, with Toucan 840, both were 10 images @ 3 min's each, @ ISO 500, flat fielded and in camera darks, and processed in Image Plus.
I feel i probably should have gone a bit longer, but this was a bit of a trial and error run, so we can do that next time, I think they are pretty reasonable, but i like them all.
Please pass judgement, and all comments taken on board.
Cheers Leon
Leon those pics are sooooo bad :P
Actually they are very good.
The silver coin pic could do with an 2* barlow to make it even better.
I just like that one close up.

I disagree :) I love these shots where the objects float with some room in their surounds!
Great images!
Dave with an 2* barlow they still float, and again very good pitures.

Beautiful images Leon, I wish mine could look like that! :)
Thanks Dave and Mill, although close up can look stunning as well, i tend to go for wide fields views of the sky.
I'm still learning to guide and stuff so i suppose that is something to look at up the track a bit. ;)
Thanks for your comments. and thanks Mike, you must have snuck in there when i was answering Dave and Mill

Hi Leon,
I was thinking the same thing last night and had my eyes on the same objects. Your pics turned out a lot better though and I'd have been happy if mine looked like that.
Here's mine - NGC253 looked great on the preview screen but I seemed to have lost it in the file saving

Two really great images Leon. Very sharp and nicely processed
Lovely images Leon, very sharp and some nice detail.
Cheers
Great work Leon! Its pleasing to see a different perspective of these objects from your FSQ. Really enjoy the silver coin galaxy (NGC253). You've picked up quite a lot of detail. Pleased to see you back at it again. Well done.
Great to see your images again Leon especially with the 5D.
I really like The Coin, looks nice and bright with lovely colours.
The Helix looks good too and as you've said would have been even better with more exposure.
Looking forward to more Leon.
Thanks guys, Ric, Andrew, Jase, David, and everyone one else that has made comment, Im having fun, and learning heaps at the same time, who could ask for more, boy, is there heaps to learn
