(FINAL) 47 Tucanae meets DSI Pro + Dob

I have great pleasure in presenting my latest work of art aptly named 'Vomit on a Pavement'

This is 150 images of 0.125 sec exposure, stacked in Registax and adjusted in Photoshop. Processing images from the DSI is hard work I have decided. Back to Image Processing 101 for me!!

I also forgot to take some dark frames after I had finished :doh:

That looks very promising Andrew!!!

The stars look fairly sharp. Lots of glow in the top half though. Is it light pollution?

I am at present trying to image with my DSI-c and still not having much luck. Lovely sky, crummy images.

But you look like you are acheiving :thumbsup:

Andrew... the storms did'nt happen here in Qld tonightand just got in from a night of looking up!!!
I just got my 8" dob a couple of weeks ago and have not had the opportunity to view 47TUC until tonight!
It took me a good hour or so finnding it (due to trees and light pollution) but its good to know I was observing the right thing....due to your pic.

Hi Andrew

That is a mighty fine effort using the DSI and an un-driven dob – something I have never seen before. You have captured the personality of 47 Tuc really well, showing the very characteristic central condensation. DSO’s can be tough work and you are doing it the hardest way possible by not having a driven mount; a terrific job. It is inspiring to see forum members attempting such difficult images with modest equipment.

Thanks Ken. I suspect it is light pollution from a nearby street light. I will have to sit down and work out if it is from the correct direction.

Thanks Dennis, just don't ask me to image anything fainter than a Mag. 4 object. I seriously can't wait for the day when I have the money available for an EQ6, then there will be no stopping me <insert Dr. Evil laughter>. :)

IF you take flats or darks, this may reduce that brightening on the top of the image. Still resolving the core is very good for an untracked image well done.

Here is a reprocessed version. I just used Iris to remove the background gradient. This one looks better but there is still a ring it. I will have to play with the gradient tool a little more. The kids have just woken up though so my 'real' day has just started. :)

OK, I finally found some time yesterday to sit down and have a good go at processing this image in Iris. This is the final version now (honest). I am now happy with it.

Andrew a really great effort in my view.
To have the courage to even have a go with a dob one must take ones hat off to you.
I like the second last image best to be honest.
