Hello...
After bad polar alignment, thick cloud, wind (pardon me!) and the Moon, I finally got something decent out of this expensive camera!!!

Lagoon and Tarantula Nebulae.

Both images: Prime focus ED80...iso 800...sRAW...10x30sec exposures ICNR, Unguided...stacked in Images Plus...touched up in PS.
Sorry - not exactly in the middle of the frame either!!

Autoguiding set-up arrives soon! Will go deeper...I hope!:D

Cheers all
Doug:thumbsup:

Doug I may get blasted out of the water for this, but i reckon that PS Actions stuff is really a waste of time, although i tried it once i have deleted the lot, i feel it is not the right way of improving images, please correct me if I'm out of line here.

Leon

Tend to agree leon, although they're fun I don't think I'm learning anything solid about processing by pressing the button and waiting for it to work!

One can examine the action to break down what's happening I suppose, kind of like a step by step tutorial.

They are a very easy way to slip into the realm of the over-processed I have found.

Use sparingly!

You're being a processing fundamentalist leon!

Astrophotography does that to a person!

Seriously good to see a start with the 40D Doug, I am very interested to see what this camera can do as it looks like a nice upgrade.
cheers and I hope you get some cloud free nights!

Ripper! I've been waiting for you to get to work..hehe. ;)

Well done. I note with interest you used sRAW. I've been planning to use sRAW for my next imaging session.

I thought sRAW would be easy to manage so I gave it a go. but when I cropped I got pixelation!!
I'll be using RAW from now on - used RAWs with the Pentax all the time,
Cheers
