I took a number of photos last night, centered on jupiter with antares nearby to the left and slightly lower, and in my images, is a strange green object in the approximate location and orientation as the butterfly nebula, which is strange because it should not have come out in the image.

I will post my photos for you to have a look at, because it may just be a glitch. I would stack them myself, but my photo editor doesnt allow placed stacking, and registax wasnt working for me.

the first 3 are 15 second exposures, the second 2 are 30 second exposures and the last two are 60 second exposures.

Here is a stretch of your last frame. The object in the lower right is terrestrial.

You can make out M7 easily, as well as M6 and M8 if you look closely.

I agree, M7 is easy to see here but if I magnify the image i can make out m8 and M6 as well ;)

ok, do you know how i can treat the original images (and crappy dark frames that dont seem to have much use) using a free software to try and get more visibility of the darker features.
