Windy Corona Australis

Howdy,

strong gust wind and warnings doesnt prevent me from imaging. :lol: This was taken last night at 7:47pm right after sunset. Have to capture this before its too late. all my light frames were blurry due to heavy wind and no observatory..

15 x 5 minutes at iso 400.

Nice image Eric. I've noticed that images of this area taken with a DSLR don't capture the dark dusty nebula very well. Could be the case of needing more exposure time or simply not the sensitive enough. Well done.

Not too shabby at all Eric!! :thumbsup: very good considering the bad conditions.
I think this would be a hard target in light polluted suburbs!
I have to give it a go before it gets too low with the newt, but way to smokey tonight, maybe tomorrow will be better?

Ah boooy, do I feel for ya!! Know exactly how frustrating having no observatory and having to put up with wind is like and the resulting loss of quality data this casues :mad2:...did I mention I hate the weather in Newcastle? (Although the past week has been pretty good actually..?)

Never the less you have done a good job on this fantsatic and interseting region and it such an unusual region it's hard to take a bad shot of it really with its ghostly mix of dark nebulae and stars and a globular star cluster.

Eric, with the qualiuty of all of your images, I cant see that the wind could stop you from getting another amazing image, you seem to have proven my theory with this one. Great shot! ;)

We were out imaging at the same time, so I know how bad the conditions were.

totally agree with you jase. maybe it depends on the FOV? might try this with the ED80.



nope :P was pouring rain with clouds. forecast shows next week "might" be clear! great time given that the moon is down. Your corona pic was awesome.

Thanks Nick. i can tell from the unprocessed images that they are more blurrier than usual from bright stars. did abit of sharpening in ps2.
