Recieved my brand new 30X 100 binoculars from AOE on Friday (just 5 days delivery to this side, impressed).
First impression, wow they are huge! 45cm long and heavy. Definatly heavy duty tripod material, thankfully I just happen to have one.
1st light on Sat. night, just a few things to get the hang of. Seeing was not very good with high altitude cloud quickly comming in.
1: A jet flying over (we are on approach for Perth airport from the north), could easily see every window and the craft filled the FOV.
2: Alpha centuari, could just split the binary, nice.
3: Omega centuari, nice and large and filled approx. 2/3 of FOV. Could not quite resolve the mass.
4: 47 Tuc, great. Could just begin to see some resolving of the star mass.
5: Jupiter was a clear disk and the moons clearly visable.
6: This morning a short look at the moon. Great. Nearly filled the FOV.
Now for a nice dark new moon and better seeing.
