Paul was nice enough to offer me a chance to have a go at processing a shot of Andromeda (M31) and of the Antares region which he took, so I jumped at the chance to have a play since I haven't done any DSOs for so long myself.

The first is M31 taken at Cambroon using a standard 300D on an Orion ED80 with the 0.8x WO FR and flattener.
11 x 300sec @ ISO800 @ f/6 Median combined in IP, dark subtracted only.

The second is the Antares region taken at Astrofest , using the 300D and Canon 135mm f/2 lens, 19 x 300sec @ ISO400 @f/2.8 Median combined in IP, dark subtracted only.
Unfortunately Jupiter was within the FOV so he had to orientate the frame to try and minimise it's effect.

I'll post some details of my processing on these two images soon.

Hope you enjoy.

Lovely images Andrew and Paul, a great team effort.

Andromeda just about jumps out of the screen at me.

Good collaborative effort. Interesting framing for the Antares image, but as explained you were trying to avoid Jupiter. I feel the colour saturation is a little tame in this image and could have been subtly boosted (personal preference). M31 is a keeper. Well done to you both.
