Hi Guys,
Pulled another overnighter last night till 5am. still feeling tired lol. Here's M42 consist of 10 x 10sec, 5 x 30sec, 5 x 1 min, 5 x 2min 10x3min and 8 x 8mins all ISO 800. This was taken without the UHC-S Filter just using the UV/IR. Testing different variations. Overall i know i can do better.
Cheers

mate - get some sleep. thats fantastic just to blow the cobwebs off. I thought your last m42 took in both the running man and the neb? Did you get a new scope or am I thinking of something else?

Wow, brilliant eric! How do you combine all the different exposures?
Good start to the M42 season Eric. You've handled the vast dynamic range of this object well. Look forward to seeing what you'll come up with next.

Absolutely stunning, Eric!
Love your work!
Al.
That is stunning Eric, man you have got that imaging down to a fine art.
I also would like to know how all those different exposures work together, if you have the time,
Is there a certain way you combine them.

Still using the same scope. Celestron NGT10 F4.7 . The prev M42 was taken with the GSO 8" F4.

Thanks for your reply guys. I use layered mask to combine different set of exposures so the core of M42 doesn't get bloated. There is an online tutorial which teaches you to do this. i'll see if I can find it.

eric, that is stunning.
man you have done so well and producing top class work.
in the search for perfection, can you please let this poor planetary nut know what the feature is on the brighter stars with the diffraction patterns..... am i right in thinking collimation???
these are the only things i can see that detract slightly from a fantastic image.
the detail is amazing!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbs up::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Eric,
Mate if that is what you get with poor collimation then......I am at a loss for words, it is a stunning image. Now I want to have another go at M42 but will have to wait a bit - it is still in the trees for me at the moment...
