Finally received my long awaited DSI Pro on Monday

After installing the software, I dragged out the scope for a quick test to check it was working OK. What a drama that was! I'm surprised the image turned out as well as it did.

I was too impatient to read the software instructions. The laptop I have is a Pentium 3 running Windoze 98 and only has USB 1.1 ports. This meant the 'Live' preview screen refreshed once every 2 seconds. and the image that was there was full of interlacing artefacts due to not having tracking and the moon moving rapidly through the view.

I somehow managed to get a half decent focus and got the software to get 13 images from a single pass of the moon through the field of view (don't ask me how I did it though )

Here is my result de-interlaced and stacked in Registax. I'm happy with it given all the dramas.

What I really need is an adapter so I can hook up the DSI to my old Minolta lenses from my film SLR and use my barndoor mount to do some widefields, until such a time that I can get an EQ6 and do some serious imaging .

May have found the source of your drama's! :D
Seriously - with better written, intuitive, friendly software (read - Mac! :P ) the DSI would so much better....
Nice image though.

Andrew,
nice start. If you are looking for an adapter just go the "Mogg Adapters' website via the link shown on the left of these pages. He sells a wide range of items, some of which I use to put slr lenses onto my DSI-C. The fov may not be as wide as you expect, but it's still good. I've always thought the "drizzle' software to be the best thing about the DSI's..

cheers
Mark

I already have my eye on a Mogg adapter. Do you have any figures for what the field of view is at a particular focal length. I assume the reason is because the CCD chip is only a fraction of the size of a 35mm frame (probably around 1/5 the size looking at it visually).

I'm sure there must be an online calculator for this sort of thing somewhere. I'll have a search around.
