Ngc104 Hdr

My first trial of using HDR to produce a layered image. Composed of two sets of images:
8/120sec@ISO400 Dark subtracted, flat fielded, registered and average combined in ImagesPlus. Processed in PS

8/240sec@ISO400 Dark subtracted, flat fielded, registered and average combined in ImagesPlus. Processed in PS

Combined in EasyHDR, then final processing and framing in PS


Shot using a Canon300D with an Orion ED80 and WO 0.8X Focal Reducer and Field Flattener.

Nice pin point stars!!! the field flattener looks like it does a good job (its on the shopping list now). is the image cropped or the whole resized so those stars are the edge of field.
The stars are all the same color was this the way the originals appeared....... hope im not being picky .......

This is a crop, though it is full height, just reduced in size for the forum. The first image below is a full size crop from the very corner. You can see a small amount of CA but the stars are still pretty round for right in the corner.

I've not adjusted the star colour at all, except where they may have been affected by a gradient removal. The second crop (again full size) is from the RAW CRW file.

Have downloaded EasyHDR some time back but still really havn`t learned how to use it..

thanks for posting the edge stars it certainly makes a difference i had been wondering how to flatten the field on the same scope but ive been busy with other things to resolve it .... :thumbsup:job done

I look forward to getting good Globbies one day. The Toucam has never allowed me to get anywhere near crisp. Dunno how the DSI will go yet.

Ken keep your shots short and take lots of them. Eric can probably confirm this but I found that taking shots with the DSI longer than about 25 -30sec, even with an IR filter, the stars started to become too blobby.
