Viewing conditions were poor, but being the first clear sky for weeks, if only for a few minutes and being anxious to test the new equatorial platform, the scope was hurriedly set up around 6.50pm. With the Toucam settings yet to be adjusted, an over exposed image of Jupiter and four moons appeared on the laptop and I couldn’t help myself capturing it. It’s not sharp and the moons are double imaged but they are there.
The second image of Jupiter was the best of a number captured over those few brief minutes of relative clear sky that was loaded with moisture and whatever else that created poor viewing.
Details of the successful platform for my Dob will be presented in a few days time.
