My best Silvercoin galaxy pic to date!

Hi all again,:hi:
Finally had some clear steady sky after the low cloud broke up last night..:) Well early this morning anyway!
Managed to setup and get 14 x 5 min of NGC 253 before dawn started.
Seeing was about average but steady and very transparent skies.
also nice and cool which the canon loves too..
Very happy with the guiding etc and with the result. Only had to trash 1 image for trailing which is pretty good for me!
Imaged with my canon 300d and 6" newt

is it possible to get such a shot using an ED80 + camera or DSI?

would it simply be a matter of exposure times + stacking?

i apologise in advance if these are stupid questions.

EDITED: forgot to say- awesome photo. galaxies look great, especially when they are oriented this way.

DJ, not to put Gary's image to shame :lol: but here is one of my images of the same Galaxy (uncropped, unprocessed single image) just to show you size of FOV using an ED80 and Focal reducer.

Quality of DSLR's is way better than DSI, Toucam etc. as Gary's image shows :thumbsup:

so you used the ED80 and your old toucam, i presume. To my untrained eye the FOV is similar, although gary's seems slightly larger. :shrug:

It will be interesting to compare the image to the DSI.

Thanks for that Geoff..I didn`t really frame it anyway but it looks nice like that..image is about 60% of original so it really looks like a floating island.with lots of tiny fuzzies everywhere on the full frame..cheers.:thumbsup:

I can`t see why you couldn`t get the same amount of detail with a ED80 and DSI, you will only get a small field of view but should be more than the toucam..cheers Gary
