I have on loan an AP Focal Reducer for a trial I am doing, unfortuntately it doesn't fit any thread I have ,ie SCT or T thread. Can anyone enlighten me to the thread type I need to be able to connect it to an ED80 and T ring adapter?

Hi Paul

Alpine Astro have listed a Baader “4in1” towards the bottom of this webpage. (http://alpineastro.com/product_listing.htm#product%20listi ng%20mounting%20accessories) Here are the details:

Universal 2" Clamping Eyepiece Holder for Zeiss (M68), Astro-Physics (2.7"), Vixen (M60), and Celestron / Skywatcher (M56).

I'm not sure if your AP would be 2.7" or is male or female?

I have one of these 4in1's that I used on my Vixen ‘scopes.

Cheers

Dennis

Female thread on one end and male on the other. I'm not sure how it goes, whether the female end threads onto an adapter that goes into the focuser and the male onto the camera with a different adapter or the other way around. I've borrowed this from Gary Beal to do comparison testing on the ED80, but Gary would use it on his Zeiss refractor. I was hoping to get something cheap and standard to do the job of attaching it. I guess not.

But that is ok, these are issues that can be highlighted during the write up.

eg. "Couldn't use the AP focal reducer flattener. It needs finicky specialized elitist threads to attach to common as muck ED80" :P

Hi Paul

Yeah…the same with Takahashi…expensive, poorly documented and hard to get threaded things if you live outside the USA or Japan.

Cheers
