Hi all,
Had a go at going a bit deeper with NGC6744 last night.
I was pretty happy with the result given the chimney smoke haze and usual city light pollution..
NGC6744 Galaxy in Pavo. Mag=9.15 Dist=205,000 light years.
Imaged with C9.25@f/6.3 14x4mins images Canon300D ISO1600
Autoguided with the usual.

Cheers

Very well done Robby!

That one has a really low surface brightness and is notoriously difficult. You must have great skies there!

Thanks Eddie. Kudos from the master himself :)
This image was taken in less than ideal skies... In the middle of town with moderate smoke haze. That said, we generally do have very good transparent skies here, with poorer seeing. Always plenty of wind to blow the crap away. Unfortunately the same wind blows in alot of cloud!!

Little One. When you can snatch the image from my camera, it will be time for you to leave. :)

I'm with you on the weather. I suppose we can't all live where the seeing is best. I'm in a terrible spot really, but then Rob Gendler has taken some of the most inspiring amateur images ever, from his driveway in Houston. That's got to be much worse than either of our locations! :)
