nice one - if you were imaging on the scope - what camera did you use for this shot?

You know Andrew, as spectacular as all of the recent deep sky pics on the forum have been, your windmill & star trails is a very spectacular shot. It shows movement, colour & the windmills motion looks great. Its taking astro photography back to the grass roots basics & producing something fresh & appealing. Well done

Thanks Everyone...
The idea for it actually came from my Mother who wants a larger image of that as a present before she departs this earth.

yep it's an excellent image, to be sure. I expected the south celestrial pole to be lower, but of course, it is from my location :)

Man the wind must have been howling that night, look what it is doing to the stars :eyepop:
What a fabulous image Andrew.
You must be rightly proud of that shot. I know for a fact it is not easy getting the lighting just right so it doesn't burn out. What did you use for your light and was it on in every shot or just one and then layered?

Out of the 10 images used to make the trail, only three had the light on them in various part of the windmill. One was on for a little bit longer than most, but I think it turned out okay, its interesting to see that the "white" LEDs show it up as Blue.

Fantastic effort mate. Thanks for sharing it.
I agree, that is unreal, and what robin said is ever so true, I remember doing star trails as that was all I was capable of doing a long time ago.
Great effort.

Excellent work!
Did you do any postprocessing on colours? The stars all look quite white - I expected to see more colour...
Superb composition and execution though!

yep stars were blurry, so I had to manipulate them a bit... Damn kit lenses. Would love to borrow an L-series lens to do the same.
