Another Splendid Clear Night

Hi Guys,

Well last night was another ripper, not a cloud to be seen, and very chilly, however I just couldn't resist to play with this auto guiding business, so I picked on something different, that being the Cats Paw, and LMC with the Tran's Neb.

Both objects were imaged at 5 mins each @ 800 ISO, through the Tak 106 and Canon 5D, all on board the G11, and Guided with a Philips Toucam. ;)

In camera Darks, and Flats combined and processed in Image Plus.

Both images are as taken, with no cropping of final image.

Sorry guys but i have made a mistake, this image is actually not the Cats Paw but an image of NGC 6559, the Cats Paw is NGC 6334. oop's :doh::ashamed:


Had another look at this image and feel that i may have over processed it, please have a look at the third image and make comment.

Hi Guys thank you for your comments, but i have made a mistake, the image is actually NGC 6559 and not the Cats Paw which is NGC 6334 :doh: :doh:

Hi Leon, great images I really enjoyed the LMC, there is so much to see in that image. Definitely a busy part of the neighbourhood.

The third image, the nebulosity looks exactly like a foot print.
So naturally it is my favourite.

Thanks Ric and JJJ, i seem to be able to get the pic's ok, but still have a lot to learn about the right processing technique, i just wish there was a set way to do it, but each image needs something different.

Never mind I'm sure it will come to me one day.

Keep em coming! You must have a nice clear view of the horizon to get the LMC. It disappears behind some trees around 8pm around these parts.

I still have so much to learn in that area as well, you are right though no one image is the same. they all require their own special little tweek in one way or another.

The last one (n03) is a ripper...not over processed at all with heaps of details.
Stick with what you did with that one Leon...:thumbsup:
The first 2 are a little to contrasty with maybe some clipping at the dark end. But no3 is very well done..:2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

Looking good Leon.Gr8 images. Guess i should extract the digit & go deepsky too but Ive shot 2000 work frames over the past 5 days so Im kind of imaged out right now...
