Hi folks,
I am a new member!!!
At first I have to say I don't speak as well as write very good English.
But I try to understand you. In addition I hope I become better in English.
Well, I look forward to nice talks.:)
Secondly I want to present me.
I'm just 15 years old and of course I am still a pupil.I'm from Germany. There I live in the Black Forest. For 5 years I already observe the sky with my telescopes.(The Black Forest night sky is great, i think)
But how does the Australian sky look like?At any time I want to see your sky in the southern hemisphere. But I like the German sky, too.
My first telescope was a cheap refractor with a 3 inch lens. With it I have looked the first time to the moon.It was incredible. After this litter refractor it followed some other telescopes.Today I have a 8 inch dobsonian and a 3,5 inch refractor.I am very pleased with them.Besides I have a lot of other stuff like a webcam for taking photos of planets, moon and sun.
In future I want to mount the 8 inch telescope on a equatorial mounting.
But i am still broke, so it remains a dream:(.
I love Astro Imaging and Upgrading my telescopes.
Ok, I'm finish now.
See you!
Andreas

Hi Andreas, welcome to IceInSpace!
Only 15 years old! Wow I wish I was into astronomy at such a young age. You're on a great path for the future.
An 8" dobsonian is a great scope. When EQ mounted it will be perfect for webcam imaging of the planets and moon.
The southern sky is magnificent. Unfortunately I can't compare directly with the northern sky as I haven't left this continent but from people who visit here, they absolutely love it.
I look forward to your contributions and seeing your images!

:gday: and :welcome: Andreas.
Our southern skies are one of the things that keeps bringing northern astronomers south and staying here. (That and the wonderfully friendly people ;) ) The skies are pretty awesome with most of the country not affected by light polution. How unpolluted? I recently did a 30min exposure and could have gone on for another 20-30 min without the image being excessively polluted. Unfortunately my guidescope was slipping during the image so it was not good.
Look forward to your contributions to the site.

Andreas,
Welcome to IIS.
We are very lucky here with our skies, not only do we have some GREAT objects to observe but light pollution is generally not a problem in most of the country. Here in the mountains we have mag 6 skies, all we need is the cloud to go away for a while but we need the rain :)
Cheers

Hi guys,
Thank you for the nice greetings. :)
Oh yes.I am very happy with my 8 inch.In the past I have tracked by hand.It is hard, but I love Astro Imaging. So I think you have to be a little bit crazy for our hobby.:D
I believe that. Oh man, you make me so intrigue.
Well, sometimes I envy you.For example if the comet McNaught came down to the southern hemisphere. At the time when he was visible from Germany he didn't be such bright and huge as at the time he came down.
His long trail was fantastic.
Es ist toll, dass jemand Deutsch spricht und das so gut.
But you're right, I want to learn more about English. So let's talk in English.
Why do you speak German?Have you been in Germany?
Sorry, I am curios.
greetings, Andreas

Hey Sedna,
Did you want to allow "Private Messages" in your profile? Then we can discuss this there instead of publicly (and boring everyone else ;))
Yes, I've been to Germany. I was engaged to a German girl. (Not anymore). I've mainly been to South Deutschland. Schwarzwald ( (black forest), München, Stuttgart, Kempten etc....

Wow, that's great.
I know Peterzell. It's close to me.I live in a little village, Triberg. Triberg is well-known for his waterfalls. Did you ever visit the waterfalls?

Welcome Andreas to Iceinspace.
We speak a reasonable version of English here but dont hesitate to ask if a word pops up not in your dictionary it may be an Australian word..
You would love our sky... I have had a 45 minute widefield exposure and it was not even hinting of any light problem... but I am in a darker spot than many ...
I also live in a forrest..on a 200acre bush block surrounded by the state forrest... but with no one nearby... one neighbour at the moment about one klm. away but we have no grid power so if there are any lights on at his place it is only one 12vlt... I am30 klms out of town that has only 15 street lights and less houses... the Milky way can be seen in detail and the galactic center passes over head which I think is neat.
It is very nice to have you join us.

Hey,
Thanks a lot, and yes, i will enjoy my time here. It's a nice forum.
All right.I will take care to understand you.
Man alive!
It sounds pretty good.I think you would like the German sky, too.Well, I just have to go out of home.Than, I stand on a untraveled street. There I set up my equipment. I know, asphalt doesn't be the ideal background.
Mostly I have a 6,5mag sky.And I can sometimes catch the milky way very clear.Besides there are less lights and my home town is far away. So, I am very pleased with my location.
But once I want to see the LMC as well the SMC.
Ok, see you!
greetings

Yes, I too.In addition I like the winter time because it becomes faster dark.So I can observe longer if the temperatures are okay.
Here in Germany it becomes slowly fall.
greetings, Andreas
