Any Angels Fans out there.

IMO the Angels were one of the best rock bands Australia has ever produced. I saw them live a couple of times and the performances were electrifying. There's a new release DVD titled "the Angels, live at Narara & Beyond salvation Live (http://www.vidzofoz.com.au/product.asp?intProductID=1569685&intArtistID=4262)" a double DVD for around $26. The live at Narara is a remaster and release of a title formerly available on VHS cassette which went on to become the highest selling rock video of all time. Beyond Salvation live was recorded in 1990. Worth buying also is a Live at the Basement DVD title, recorded a couple of years ago by original band members, namely Rick & John Brewster, Graham Bidstrup and Chris Bailey. The old genius is still there in the Live at the basement title, but without Doc Neeson's vocals the experience lacks the drive of the original lineup.

Yep - one of my favourite pub bands of all time too. I used to turn up to their early gigs at the long-gone San Miguel Inn in Cammeray NSW. We were hosed out after every night session along with the swill on the floor. Great stuff!

They sure are fantastic. Last Friday night I saw at them at the 2nd Countdown Spectacular and they were by far and away (IMHO) the best act on the night. To have 10,000 people filling in the chorus of Am I ever Gonna See Your Face Again (no way get [best stop right here]) was simply awesome.

I did hear that Doc was seriously injured in a car accident a number of years ago, but hey he has still got it.

Now I'm on the lookout for an Angels DVD to go with my astronomy gear.

I remember seeing them at the ANU Uni bar for the princely sum of $5 and $3.50 with student concession :lol:

I saw them on the Beyond Salvation tour and had the VHS of the Narara show but it got worn out a long time ago.lol
Have been waitng for this release for a long time

Phil, that takes me back.
I went to see The Angels many, many times at different pubs and venues in and around Brisbane.
Other "Must See" bands of the era were The Radiators (they usually supported The Angels), Mental as Anything, Rose Tattoo, Midnight Oil, Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons and The Divinyls.
Cloudland was THE best place to see live bands. With its sprung ballroom floor, the joint would be literally bouncing.

Cloudland was great. I remember going to see Australian Crawl there in 1980, & the 1979 KISS concert at Lang Park.

But nothing beat the Angels at the Mansfield Tavern.......

The Homestead Hotel in Zillmere was my usual haunt. They used to host heaps of good bands. Even the odd overseas act used to turn up.
I remember seeing George Thorogood there.
